Membership is open to all those who share common interests with the aims and purposes of the organization, namely, "... to promote a community for those scholars concerned with the perspectives of phenomenology and related perspectives in the human sciences...(and) to promote fruitful and free discussions of developments pertaining to theoretical, empirical and substantive issues concerning these fields."

Membership Information:

Membership in SPHS is USD 50 per person, or USD 25 for students or those whose income is low. We welcome your participation in the Society. (Only members of the Society may present papers at the annual conference.)

Each year the annual conference of SPHS is ordinarily held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy (SPEP). The conference takes place in October or November.

The membership year runs from conference to conference, and ordinarily extends from the first day of the annual conference to the first day of the conference in the following year. Many members also join the SPHS Email Discussion List, which is free to anyone.
